The Hunt for Red October- Another Jack Ryan movie, can’t believe I have never watched this. Despite using this in a history paper about the Cold War freshman year of college. I used Rocky 4, this and Red Dawn to talk about the Cold War. I MISS COLLEGE.
Alec Baldwin is so fucking cool (because he is from Long Island). But I must say I still think Ford is my favorite Jack Ryan, though I haven’t Shadow Recruited yet.

L.A. Confidential- Oh right, Russell Crowe was a good actor at some point. I knew there was a reason we liked him. This movie is really fun to revisit upon moving to LA. I also REALLY want to watch House of Cards.
Also James Cromwell is in this, he is another guy up there with Bruce McGill he is an everyman who is in A LOT of these movies.

Under Siege- Fuck yes. Seagal manages to play a wide-variety of nationalities in all his movies. Italian, Native American, I think he is Cajun in this one. He is so bad ass in this movie. My favorite part of any Seagal movie is where you learn that he isn’t just some cook, or just some cop. He is an ex-Navy SEAL or he is The Glimmer Man. I think it is safe to say I have been and will be obsessed with this dude for a LONG ASS TIME

Hard To Kill- I have seen this movie at least 40 times in my life. Despite that, when I see this movie is about to start on Showtime Extreme, I CANNOT help but watch it again. So many great quotes/scenes. This was back when he wasn’t a punchline yet. Back when his titles at 3 words, he did some vaguely Asian thing in ever movie. In this case it is writing in CHinese Calligraphy and saying, go down to Chinatown and get me these herbs. I fucking love Seagal, and I kind of want to grow a pony tail.
You can take that to the bank. The blood bank.

Deceptive Practice- I don’t even know what made me watch this. Someone mentioned it in passing. I really dug it (though I was SUPER high). But old school magic, before the days of making a Prius disappear, really interests me. All of old showbiz interests me, back when everyone knew each other’s acts. It was all about the craft, but there is something really odd and dark about magic. Like being a pickpocket, secret societies and all that.
Makes me wish I trained under some close up illusionist, and never told anyone. Actually, maybe I did.

That Guy Who Was In That Thing- this movie is equal parts depressing and inspiring. I love character actors, I love that when you see one of these people (not just dudes) and you get a feel for the character almost immediately.
But I will say one of the worst things to listen to is an actor talk about acting. But it is nice to hear the stories of these guys breaking in, or how they survived, or how ALL of them have done guest stars on a Star Trek.
I would have no qualms about being a character actor, I would love it. (how brave of the fat, asymmetrical non-leading man to say)
Also Zeljko Ivanek is in this, and you will recognize him as the guy who seems tired in EVERY movie. He is also in Banshee season 2, and I love that dude.
I cannot believe I haven’t done a post about how much I love BANSHEE yet.
